WHY IS THE IRAN DEAL IN DANGER?

The Iran deal is an agreement that was reached in 2015 between Iran and a group of world powers, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, China, and Germany. This allowed for a joint statement of the countries, which stated that Iran would redesign, convert, and reduce their nuclear facilities and reduce all nuclear-related tests and activities.

Former president, Barack Obama, was very involved in the deal during his presidency. In contrast, as soon as he was elected, President Trump had chosen to denounce the deal and refused to recertify. He claimed that the components of the deal were too lenient on the country and that he did not trust the government of Iran at all.

However, in January 2018, Trump signed a waiver to keep the Iran deal alive. The only reason was that nuclear sanctions against Iran would automatically be reinstated, putting the US in contravention of the deal’s terms.

Most recently, there are rumors that Trump is planning to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal for “domestic reasons.” Another change in US global policy within 2 months.. big surprise. French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the US as being “insane for its constant global policy U-turns.”

Trump has repeatedly wanted to do away with the deal, even after he agreed to sign it. His idea that it was too soft on Iran made him very reluctant to sign the waivers. According to CNN, Trump stated, “It’s insane, it’s ridiculous, it should have never been made. It was a terrible deal.”

The potential pulling out of the US from the deal would negatively affect us, and all other nations involved in the deal. Iran would resume its nuclear activity, which would benefit no one. The aftermath could be deadly. Let’s hope he changed his mind.
