Trump Surprises All With His $50 Million Contribution To His Own Campaign

In the media, the presumptive Republican candidate – Donald J Trump – has been painted as selfish, ignorant, and more of a real estate mogul than a true politician. However, he may have done just the thing that could change the opinions of his naysayers: he spent 50 million dollars of his own money on his presidential campaign.

This isn’t money that has been sitting in Trump’s wallet all these months. The Republican has forgiven personal loans in order to turn them into contributions to his campaign. This means that Trump will never see this money again – he is unable to ever refund the money back to himself, meaning that there is no possible way that he did this for his own economic gain. Such a dramatic move could very well have been strategic. Many prominent Republicans have been hesitant to donate any money to Trump’s campaign because a lingering thought has remained that Trump isn’t completely committed to becoming the next President of the United States.

The idea has been proposed that Trump will pull out at the last second, which would result in Hillary Clinton winning the presidency. Cynics believe that Trump has only come this far so as to deplete his own bank account. Donors weren’t exactly enthralled to give Trump financial support over the past few months, for the simple reason that they could have been just handing free money to the presumptive GOP candidate. This move Trump has made, forgiving his loans, could change the minds of potential donors.

Trump has had a terribly hard time gaining financial support for his race to the White House. In the entire month of May, he only raised $3.1 million and finished the month out with roughly 1.3 million dollars in the bank. This is stunningly low compared to the nearly 55 million dollars that Clinton had at the same point in time.

The announcement of this loan forgiveness was paired with a statement from a Trump representative. “[Trump] has personally invested in excess of $50 million in the future of our country … Unlike the all talk, no action politicians that have failed the American people for far too long, Mr. Trump is not beholden to the special interests that have corrupted Washington, D.C. Mr. Trump will continue to put America and our people first.”

As the 2016 Presidential Election reaches its final stretch, Donald Trump has made some extremely smart political moves so as to gain the support he needs to enter the White House and win the presidency. This loan forgiveness that was recently announced could encourage Republican donors to contribute their money to the GOP nominee’s campaign, which would greatly help him in his quest to win over voters.
