Trump Insists on Funding ‘for the badly needed border wall’

Experts say building a wall between Mexico and the U.S. border would cost $21.6 billion and take 3 ½ years to construct.

However, the cost and amount of time are not stopping Donald Trump from his dedication to grant funding toward the wall he promised throughout his campaign. He is now more persistent than ever as he closed in on his first 100 days as the 45^th president.

Not only will he continue to press Congress for funding toward the construction, but he also plans to obtain money from Mexico to pay for the project.

“Eventually, but at a later date so we can get started early, Mexico will be paying, in some form, for the badly needed border wall,” he tweeted from his official Twitter account Sunday.

Progress toward the funding and eventual construction must be made this week as time plays a crucial part in this endeavor.

With recent frustrations in the White House over inaction and stalemates on health care and tax cuts, Trump’s persistence to build the wall is amidst a time of tension.

After a two-week recess, the Senate and the House will return this week. Both chambers will be in session to negotiate a funding agreement. Although negotiators worked throughout the break, a consensus has not yet been made.

Democrats have insisted they will not partake in any voting for a spending bill that would enable the construction.

“The Democrats don’t want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members,” Trump tweeted on Sunday.

Trump is adamant that a wall is necessary in order to put a halt on the circulation of drugs in America, claiming that it will protect the country’s youth.

“The Wall is a very important tool in stopping drugs from pouring into our country and poisoning our youth (and many others)!” he tweeted this morning.
