Trump Didn’t Think Being President Would be This Hard

As Donald Trump reflects on his first 100 days of presidency in an interview on Thursday with Reuters, he reminisces about the life he had before he became the big man in charge of the U.S.

“I loved my previous life, I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” Trump told Reuters. “I actually, this is more work than my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”

As a wealthy businessman, he was used to having very little privacy. As president, his privacy is even more limited and he is still getting used to the constant duty of the 24-hour Secret Service protection. He misses performing everyday tasks on his own, such as driving, and feels although he lives in a “cocoon.”

“And, while I had very little privacy, in my old life because, you know, I’ve been famous for a long time. I really — this is much less privacy than I’ve seen before,” he said. “This is, you know, something that’s really amazing. At the same time, you’re really into your own cocoon because there’s such massive protection, that you really can’t go anywhere.”

In the interview, he also expressed concerns with North Korea as tensions remain on the rise. The U.S. could potentially have a “major, major, conflict with North Korea,” according to Trump.

“As to whether or not he’s rational, I have no opinion on it. I hope he’s rational,” Trump said as he discussed North Korea’s Leader, Kim Jong Un.

He believes China’s president, Xi Jinping, will be able to “do something” to prevent any turmoil with North Korea and thinks “he’s a good man.”

Currently, he’s pushing to have South Korea pay for the “phenomenal” THAAD missile defense system being set up in their country, which would cost them about a $1 billion.

“We’re going to protect them,” Trump said. “But they should pay for that, and they understand that.”
