The Trump Family’s 21st Century Plan

It is no surprise that the world is changing. If you look at a cell phone today and compare it to one that was made twenty years ago, it’s amazing how far technology has come.

The discussion surrounding this change was at the heart of Ivanka Trump’s interview with the hosts of Fox & Friends this morning on Fox News.

In a week that was spent focusing on the testimony of former FBI Director James Comey, the first daughter Ivanka Trump granted reprieve to those who tuned into Fox this morning as she discussed the Perkins Act and “infrastructure week.”

She said, “This coming week is about workforce development. So with all the noise, with all the intensity of the media coverage and obviously, what makes headlines ultimately, we are really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as their president.” President Trump has shown how he is a man for America, not the international stage.

He wants to bring jobs back to the United States, but that does not mean that they will all be white collar jobs. With technology constantly getting better, more and more people are getting replaced, but these replacements do not mean there are fewer jobs, just different types of jobs.

An interesting point that is not often made was brought up by Mrs. Trump when she said that they’ll “highlight the fact that there is a viable path other than a four-year college experience.” In a society that so pushes college on young adults, hearing a powerful woman say that it is not required is almost blasphemous.

Yet, it is not as outlandish as one may believe. Many CEOs have said that they have many job openings, but there aren’t enough people to fill said openings. Why? It is because even though they are educated, they are not educated in the necessary fields. Instead of learning in a conventional liberal arts school, employers are now seeking out those who graduated from vocational schools.

With the STEM field being the “field of the future,” in Ivanka’s words, it is time to make changes to the current path the United States finds itself on. The economy is not designed for people to fail, it is designed for people to abandon conventional thought. Change is scary, but change is good. Very good.

Not only did the interview this morning focus on the STEM field, it also talked about the female presence in the field. At the moment, women make up 47% of the work force which is a very respectable number, but when it is broken down into the STEM field only 23% of the workforce is women. That is not enough and is something that Ivanka wants to see a rise in. She is hoping to increase the teaching of the STEM disciplines to those in Kindergarten through 12th grade, but this will also include retraining adults.

By retraining adults, they will no longer have to work two or three jobs to make up for the salary that they lost when they were replaced by a machine. Instead, they would be able to find one good job.

Trump’s goal when elected was to change the nation and truly put Americans first. Beginning with “infrastructure week” and the Perkins Act he is ensuring that his American people will be put first from an economic stand point.
