On Tuesday, climbing officials reported that an Indian climber is missing and a Northern Irish climber perished while descending the world’s 10th highest peak.

Noel Hanna, who had climbed Mount Everest 10 times, reached the 8,091-metre (26,545-foot) Annapurna summit in west Nepal on Monday and died overnight in Camp IV after descending.

Tourism official Yubaraj Khatiwada said Hanna’s death was unclear.

He said a missing Indian climber slipped into a crevasse on Annapurna’s lower slopes on Monday.

Hiking company officials rescued two more Indian mountaineers who were stuck in poor weather on Annapurna.

Avalanches make Annapurna summit in west Nepal, first climbed by Frenchman Maurice Herzog in the early 1950s, perilous.

Hiking officials report 365 climbers and 72 deaths on Annapurna.

An ice serac on Mount Everest’s lower slopes killed three Nepali sherpas last week.

Nepal boasts eight of the 14 highest mountains. The country between China and India earns money and employs people by climbing Himalayan peaks and traversing their foothills.
