Prominent GOP Figures Boycott Republican Convention
The terrifying force that is Donald Trump seems to get stronger and stronger with each coming day. Nobody could have anticipated how far he has come in the 2016 race to the White House. His Republican competitors have been dropping out of the competition like flies, and Trump already has won over the 1,237 delegates required for nomination. Despite his successes, the GOP is anything but united – in fact, the Republican Convention in July could just be a sea of empty seats.
Many high-ranking Republican officials have announced that they will not be attendance at the Convention in Ohio. This group of defiant politicians includes Trump’s past competitors for the nomination, governors, and senators.
Thus far, Donald Trump has proved time and time again to be anything but traditional. Voters are consistently shocked by his radical claims and horrifically offensive speeches. He has little experience in politics, and one of his major campaign promises is to rock the boat. Trump has advertised that should he be elected President of the United States that his term will be anything but conventional.
Cleveland’s convention will surely be under-attended, which would prove to the public that Trump doesn’t have the support of the GOP. Thus far, Donald Trump has been hunting down a united support system. The image of empty seats in Ohio this July will undoubtedly taint that goal.
However, there is no doubt that Trump will remain unfazed. Ron Bonjean, a major Republican strategist, had this to say of the prospective nominee: “Trump is a master entertainer and more than likely going to put together a convention program that attempts to highlight his strengths and sideline some of the major absences.”
Trump has proven that he is capable of talking his way around anything; on multiple occasions, he has spoken in circles to avoid answering questions without actually offering any sort of substantive response. Who knows what Donald Trump will have to say, come July?
