Paul Ryan Endorses Donald Trump

Paul Ryan, current House Speaker, announced on June 2 his plan to vote for the probable Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

This is the complete opposite of Ryan’s opinion regarding Trump a month ago – the Speaker told a CNN official that he was “just not ready” to give the GOP headliner any support. Apparently, the time has come for Paul Ryan. He’s ready, and he is loud and proud in declaring his support of Donald Trump.

He confided this endorsement in the writers for The Janesville Gazette of Wisconsin. “I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve peoples’ lives. That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall … It’s no secret that he and I have our differences. I won’t pretend otherwise. And when I feel the need to, I’ll continue to speak my mind. But the reality is, on the issues that make up our agenda, we have more common ground than disagreement.”

Later that same day, Donald Trump took to social media to express his gratitude for the House Speaker’s kind words. He tweeted, “So great to have the endorsement and support of Paul Ryan. We will both be working very hard to Make America Great Again!”

Ryan’s sources have been very clear; there was no negotiation involved in this endorsement. Apparently, after multiple conversations via phone, Paul Ryan made the decision that the Republican front-runner deserved his vote. A source commented, saying “As [Ryan] wrote, through their conversations he gained a comfort that they could work together on this.” Though unconfirmed, it is possible that Paul Ryan could be hoping to become Trump’s vice presidential running mate – the prospect of a position in the White House could have changed the former’s opinion on the latter.

It is no secret that Donald Trump is a highly controversial man. Those who support him defend him rabidly, and those who are against him condemn his name and everything he stands for. When Hillary Clinton, one of Trump’s competitors in the 2016 Presidential Election, spoke out against Trump and his policies regarding national security, Paul Ryan responded to the former Secretary of State with malice, claiming that “A Clinton White House would mean four more years of liberal cronyism and a government more out for itself than the people it serves. Quite simply, she represents all that our [the Republican] agenda aims to fix.”

Donald Trump, the man anticipated to be on the ballot for the Republican Party this November, surprises the American public every day. The latest surprise is the rather unexpected endorsement he won from none other than the House Speaker, Republican Paul Ryan.
