Obama Shrugged off haters : “I Won Both of Them,” He Proclaims

8 unscripted words read by President Obama, may have been the most memorable moment of his 2015 State of the Union Address. While there were 6,493 words throughout the whole speech, people focused in on 2 lines in particular, and those are the ones he ad-libbed himself.

The quote was, “I have no more campaigns to run,” a line met with unanimous applause from Republicans side of the address, but Obama did not just end it there, he then quickly added, “I know because I won both of them.”

People automatically turned to twitter to comment and repost the President’s line, and many stated how it was a “sick burn.” According to Twitter the line generated the most tweets per minute during the initial speech as well as the response given by Sen. Joni Ernst’s Republican.

Obama who has been recently battling both of the Republican houses added the line for theatrical purposes, and wanted to prove a point to his “enemies.” Otherwise he would not have said it with a sly smile like he did.

Is this what modern day politics has come to? Trying to publicly embarrass each other, many question whether or not the President should have added the unscripted lines because out of everyone in this country, he should be the most professional, and that is why he did not do anymore, and why he just kept it short. Many are also stating that the President should be showing a little more humbleness.

Obama, who has been ready to veto any legislation that will be handed to him by the Republican houses during his remaining time in office, plans to stick by his guns and make it a very difficult time for the G.O.P.

Mitt Romney had this to say about the quote on Facebook, “More intent on winning elections than on winning progress, he ignores the fact that the country has elected a Congress that favors smaller government and lower taxes.”

Obama’s second term in office will end in two years, but the President does state that a new time will come to pass a time of prosperity at home and in security, a promise that upset added more fuel to the Republican’s anger.
