President Obama is attempting to make voting mandatory for U.S. citizens because he perceives it as a way to get younger voters to the polls, and wants to make voting easier for everyone in the country.

According to Fox News, Obama has called the new concept ‘potentially transformative’ and claims that there’s a reason why some folks try to keep them away from the polls,” and pointed out the fact that only 37 percent of eligible voters went to cast their votes when it came time for the midterm election last year.

Obama also stated, “If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country,” and also pointed out that those who do not vote are often younger citizens, or those who live lower income communities; he also said immigrants and minorities show lower statistics of voting each election.

Obama believes that those with money hold the power to severely effect the elections because they are the one’s who have the power and resources for these influential campaigns that sway the polls for those who actually do vote.

Obama says that these types of campaigns try to get the majority of those in that demographic to not vote claiming, “There’s a reason why some folks try to keep them away from the polls.”

Many countries such as, Argentina, Belgium, and Brazil, have a structure set up that makes it’s citizens obligated to vote, and if they do not then they must provide a liable reason why they choose not to, or they will face a fine.

This is what Obama essentially wants to establish by trying to enforce a legislative that forces those to vote without giving them an option. This could help out the structure and balance of our country, but then again it could make a huge difference because those who do not normally vote may not take the process seriously and may vote spontaneously without knowing the facts behind the candidates or what they stand for.
