As a result of the revelation that six troops serving Russia’s military had been slain, Nepal has stated that it has requested that Moscow refrain from recruiting its fellow citizens into the Russian army and promptly transfer any Nepali soldier commissioned there back to the Himalayan nation with urgent attention.

As a result of an agreement between the three nations, Nepali troops, known as Gurkhas, have been serving the British and Indian forces ever since India gained its independence in 1947. They are renowned for their courage and their ability to battle.

Russia, which invaded neighboring Ukraine in February 2022 and has been involved in a conflict ever since, does not have such an agreement with the little Himalayan republic, which is situated between China and India.

The Nepalese government issued a statement in which it stated that six of its citizens who had been serving in the Russian army had been slain. However, the statement did not include any other information.

This statement was made by the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs late on Monday night. “The government of Nepal has requested that the Russian government immediately return their bodies and pay compensation to their families,” the statement said.

In addition, the statement stated that diplomatic efforts were now being made to secure the release of a Nepali national who was serving in the Russian army and had been taken by Ukraine. Additionally, Nepal strongly advised its citizens to refrain from joining the armed forces of any nation now experiencing armed conflict.

According to Milan Raj Tuladhar, Nepal’s ambassador in Moscow, between 150 and 200 Nepalis were operating as mercenaries in the Russian army. This information was reported by The Kathmandu Post, an English newspaper.

Despite receiving a request for comment, the Russian embassy in Kathmandu did not immediately react to the inquiry.

In South Korea, Malaysia, and the Middle East, there are millions of Nepalese people working in civilian jobs, the majority of whom are in the capacity of laborers in factories and construction sites.
