Just Days before her wedding, Meghan Markle’s dad becomes the center of attention

Meghan Markle confirms her father won’t attend the royal wedding, and the public goes wild. 

The Royal Wedding is upon us. Just days before the one of the most extravagant event of the year, on May 19^th,there is a anticipated controversy of the commoner who is marrying someone with a long history of royalty. It was sparked when, as of May 17^th, it is confirmed that her father will not be in attendance.

There has been a lot of criticism from the public regarding her absent father during the wedding preparation. Instead of focusing on what will be one of the most beautiful and celebrated weddings in history, everyone is honing in on Markle’s “dysfunctional” family. Thomas Markle, her 73 year old father, is in Mexico at the moment, recovering from heart surgery in Mexico. By doctor’s orders, he is requested to stay at home instead of making a travel that could lead to his health deteriorating.

In response to the rumors on whether he was to come or not, her father decided to save her daughter the embarrassment by staging photos with the paparazzi to appear to be preparing for the wedding. However, this seemed to have sparked more conversation and embarrass her in his eyes. “I have heard in private Meghan was embarrassed and tearful about what happened with the staged photos,” he says to news.com.au. After a long silence on whether her father will attend or not, Meghan finally broke the ice.

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” Meghan Markle said in a statement provided by Kensington Palace Thursday.

This is not the end of the world. Her father will be able to recover in due time. Markle has several possible stand-in candidates to walk her down the aisle, including her mother Doria Ragland, and Prince Charles, Meghan’s future father-in-law. And finally, she will still be able to get married with a prince in what is probably her dream wedding. So why is there so much hysteria revolving around Meghan Markle, the soon-to-be member of the British royal family?

The fact that she is someone who does not have any royal background, it gives the public a reason to put her under a microscope. It is interesting because unlike Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, Markle has a background in acting and knows what it is like to deal with the press. But not like this. Society is scrutinizing her every move, and she can’t avoid this.
