John Kasich Has Trouble Supporting Donald Trump

With the presidential race becoming a narrower and narrower competition, it’s natural for lesser competitors to step down in order to offer their support to the front-runner. However, that isn’t the case with John Kasich. He may have dropped out of the election, but by no means does that mean he is endorsing the likely Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

“Why would I feel compelled to support someone whose positions I kind of fundamentally disagree with?” He asked an interviewer at Fox News.

Many are shocked by this revelation. It seemed inevitable that the Ohio Governor would stand behind Trump – there were even rumors about him running as Trump’s Vice President. However, Kasich simply feels that Trump’s campaign makes a mockery of politics. He mentioned that “name-calling” has been a significant part of Trump’s strategy, and that just doesn’t sit well with him.

Apparently, Trump is shocked at the lack of political aid as well. Kasich said to Bill Hemmer of Fox News, “Mr. Trump called me and said, ‘What are you going to do to support me?’ and I said, ‘We’re like two companies. We have a different vision, a different value system, and a different objective,’ So it’s pretty hard to put that together.”

This lack of empathy for the GOP nominee does not mean Kasich is switching sides. He also refuses to endorse the Democratic headliner, Hillary Clinton. When asked which nominee he preferred, Kasich could only say, “it’s not that simple.”

Nor does it mean that Kasich won’t be attending the Republican National Convention. In fact, it is behind held in Cleveland, Ohio – the state of which Kasich is the Governor. He plans to walk in there proudly with his opinions of Trump on his sleeve. Can one attend the Convention without supporting the party’s nominee? According to Kasich, “Absolutely. Of course.”

It’s heartwarming to see the swarms of people rising up in opposition to Donald Trump. As more and more prominent political figures point out the farce that is Trump’s campaign, voters will come to their senses and place their allegiance elsewhere.
