Hillary Clinton Stumping the Trump

While Donald Trump most certainly has made a name for himself for the past year, galvanizing the population and securing the Republican Presidential candidate nomination, thus far he has not competed well against Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Trailing in both general election polls and the fundraising battle across the country, Donald Trump finds himself at a large disadvantage having lost forward momentum in this race.

By the end of May, Hillary Clinton has raised nearly $28 million whilst having a reserve of $42 million available to spend on the expansion of her campaign operations across the country. As for Trump, he has a tepid $1.3 million at the end of May as opposed to Clinton’s $42 million.

To give a comparison, Bernie Sander’s now defunct campaign has raised over $15 million in May and still has over $9 million on hand to spend. Given the fact that Trump is the Republican Presidential nominee, this should spell trouble for his campaign and impede his ability to further advance his message across the country.

To make matters worse, Trump’s woes are not limited to being financial, instead, he is facing problems catering to the views of the majority of Americans. It is unequivocal to state that Trump steamrolled through the competition in the Republican Party, but when faced with the full spectrum of the country, his successes have not been able to be emulated.

In one recent general election poll conducted by CNN, Trump is trailing Clinton by a total of five points with the final result being 47 to 42 percent. Other polls like the CNBC poll conducted on June 20th, show Clinton with another five-point lead over Trump being up 40 to 35 percent. A Monmouth poll also completed on June 20th showed an even larger lead over Trump with Clinton leading by 8 points.

With the general election coming up in early November, Trump is running out of time to close the gap with the Hillary campaign. Considering the fact that he is running out of money for his campaign, it is difficult to envision a scenario in which he can recompose himself and take the lead over Clinton.

Unless Hillary Clinton is barred from being the Democratic Presidential nominee or drastic changes are made to Trump’s campaign message, it would appear that Trump is the clear underdog in this upcoming race.
