Hillary Clinton Solidifying Her Lead Over Trump

Recent polls have shown that Hillary Clinton is extending her lead over Donald Trump in the race for the White House this November. Experts are attributing this increase in support largely because of the recent Democratic National Convention.

According to a CBS poll, Donald Trump is now trailing Hillary Clinton by a margin of 46 to 39 percent. Previously, before the Democratic National Convention, Donald Trump was tied with Hillary Clinton in the same poll. However, it would appear that the DNC convinced a number of voters that Hillary Clinton is a more capable candidate for the highest office in the country.

Another poll, conducted by CNN-ORC on Monday, shows that Hillary Clinton leads by an even greater margin at 52 to 43 percent. Before the Democratic Convention, this particular poll showed Trump leading at 48 to 45 percent.

A sub-poll which questioned whether or not the responder believes either candidate’s policies will lead the country in the “right direction” also seemed to tip in the favor of Clinton. It showed that out of registered voters, 48 percent of people believe Clinton’s campaign promises will guide the country in a better direction.

Clinton has really benefited from the recent exposure in the media, undoubtedly catalyzing liberal-leaning voters. Whether it was her messages and platform that was emphasized in the DNC, or because of Trump’s recent follies, Hillary Clinton has gained the advantage with just less than a 100 days until the election.

While Hillary Clinton clearly has the upper hand, there is one glaring problem with her image. Voters still have a lack of faith in her ability to tell the truth and her general “likeability.” Out of registered voters, 50 percent of them hold an unfavorable or negative view of Clinton, while on the other hand, only 36 percent view her in a positive light.

If Hillary Clinton wants to ensure her victory this November, she must improve upon this issue. Many people have lost faith in her due to the email scandal that plagued her campaign for the past year or so. This is, perhaps, the most crucial factor that Clinton must either address or attempt to ameliorate.

While she holds an appreciable lead in some of the swing states, this election really comes down to a few key battlegrounds. All it takes is for Clinton to lose places like Florida and Virginia and she will be in great trouble to gather 270 electoral votes.
