The technological developments currently happening in the world are through a myriad of different companies, organizations and government-run institutions. They come from many diverse countries, and sometimes the scientists or researchers of these different countries work together to expedite their output. One of the most consistent developers of new technology, however, comes from a little company founded in 1997. Google is here, once again, with a piece of technology that could change how operating systems work. Could is the important word, as Google in recent years has been known to create duds, such as google plus.

Google will be introducing Daydream VR, within “a couple of weeks.” This timeframe is incredibly lackadaisical, probably a security measure for Google in case something gets pushed back. There has been no hardware revealed for this VR, which with the aforementioned timeframe, curiosity strikes to ponder how this Daydream VR will work. Google is a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., the company that is performing the large feat of investing money into the software. Google has been able to continue its bid for technology domination by enlisting such companies as HTC, Asus, Samsung, LG, Huawei, ZTE, Xiaomi, and Alcatel to develop the hardware around it, similar to what it does now with its android software.

Android 7.0, the Nougat system, will be pre-configured with Daydream, bringing the new technology to 107 million Android users. With VR technology accessible to so many people, with the apparent future of how humans interact with computers beneath their fingertips, it begs the question: will it catch on? Perhaps VR is just too strange of a concept for the everyday person. The stigma against people with Google Glasses is very real. People find it comical to be donning them. What Google may need to do, as is their plan, is to force it upon people, but then again, there’s always iPhone.
