An official from a high-ranking regional organization announced on Monday that Major General Vladimir Zavadsky, who served as the deputy commander of Russia’s 14th Army Corps, had been killed in Ukraine.

Alexander Gusev, the governor of the Voronezh region in Russia, stated that Zavadsky had passed away “at a combat post in the special operation zone.” Still, he stopped short of providing any other information.

When referring to the conflict in Ukraine, which is now getting close to the conclusion of its second year, Russia uses the term “special military operation” to characterize the conflict.

Zavadsky was the sixth major general whose death Russia had confirmed, according to investigative news sources’ histories. In all, 12 senior officers have been declared deceased since the beginning of the conflict.

As the conflict has proceeded, there has been a decrease in the number of deaths of top Russian commanders, which military experts have, in some instances, ascribed to the effectiveness of the Ukrainian military in intercepting lethal communications.

The death of Zavadsky was a significant loss that caused “transfixing pain,” according to Gusev, who also stated that Zavadsky was a highly decorated officer and a previous tank commander.
